The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a union territory of India. The islands are located between the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.

1. The islands are made up of 572 islands, but only 38 are inhabited.

2. The islands are divided into two main clusters: the Andaman Islands in the north and the Nicobar Islands in the south.

3. The capital and largest city of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is Port Blair, which is also known as Sri Vijaya Puram.

4. The islands were part of the British Empire of India and became an independent part of the Republic of India on August 15, 1947.

5. The islands were declared a union territory of India in 1956.

1. Cellular Jail: A historical site in Port Blair that was used to exile Indian political prisoners during British rule. It has a museum, garden, and a sound and light show.

2. Radhanagar Beach: A white sand beach on Havelock Island that’s good for swimming and watching the sunset.

3. Elephant Beach: A beach on Havelock Island with clear waters and marine life for snorkeling and sea walks.

4. Kala Pathar Beach: A pristine beach with white sand and turquoise waters that’s good for sunrise views and nature photography.

5. Ross and Smith Island: Two separate islands connected by a natural sand bridge that’s visible at low tide.

6. Baratang Island: An island with mud volcanoes and limestone caves that’s accessible by ferry from Port Blair.

7. Mount Harriet National Park: A popular national park near Havelock Island.

8. Campbell Bay National Park: A national park with aquatic life and camping facilities.

9. North Button Island National Park: A national park with a diverse range of animal species.
