Goumukh Tapovan and Mt. Meru glacier trek
Trek to Goumukh and Tapovan striked in my mind when wanted to visit sacred Gangothri. This is one of the most popular treks to the scared place where river Baghirathi originates in Bhagirathi massif.
I have taken the below route keeping an additional day at Tapovan to trek Mt/ Meru glacier and explore Tapovan.
Day 1: Rishikesh to Gangotri – 280 km By Road (7-8 Hours)
Day 2: Gangotri to Chirbasa to Bhojbasa – 15 km trek
Day 3: Bhojbasa to Tapovan – 6 km trek
The 360 degree views of the mountains from the Tapovan is simply breathtaking. The view of Mt Shivling, Mt. Meru, Mt. Sumeru and the Bhagirathi massifs, Thenu, and Sudarshan Parbat throbs everones sight
Day 4 : Trek to Mt Meru glacier and Tapovan exploration11
From Tapovan close to 90 minutes uphill trek takes to the magnificent Mt Meru glacier.Most of the trekkers will not go here but its worth to try.
Day 5: Tapovan to Gaumukh to Bhojbasa – 6 km trek
Day 6: Bhojbasa to to Ganothri – 15 km trek
Day 7: Gangothri to Rishikesh
